The Grand Palais in Paris hosted the conclusion of the Artificial Intelligence Action Summit, a two-day gathering that wrapped up on Tuesday. The event was jointly led by French President Emmanuel Macron and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
A Gathering of Global Scale
More than 1,000 attendees took part in the summit, which got underway on February 10. Delegates arrived from over 100 nations, spanning government leaders, international organisations, academics, researchers, private sector executives, and civil society representatives.
The Paris meeting followed two earlier gatherings in the series: the 2023 AI Safety Summit at Bletchley Park in the UK, and the 2024 AI Seoul Summit in South Korea. Organisers pointed to the size and diversity of the Paris attendance as evidence of how quickly AI has risen on the global agenda.
Leadership and Setting
The joint chairmanship by Macron and Modi signalled both countries’ interest in directing AI’s potential toward societal benefit. The venue itself — the Grand Palais, known for its glass roof and historic character — offered what organisers described as a distinctive setting for the talks, fitting for a city long associated with technological innovation.
According to summit organisers, the mix of participants produced a dynamic environment for exchanging ideas and encouraging cooperation across the field.
Beyond the Technical
A defining characteristic of the 2025 summit was its reach beyond technical questions. Social, economic, and cultural dimensions of AI also featured on the agenda. By drawing together people from many disciplines and backgrounds, the event generated a wide range of perspectives, which organisers said supported more nuanced discussion of the issues at stake and helped lay groundwork for future breakthroughs.
Looking Ahead to Delhi
With the Paris event closed, attention has shifted to the next meeting in the series: the AI Impact Summit, set for Delhi, India, in February 2026.
The momentum from Paris has fed anticipation about AI’s capacity to drive positive change. As the global community continues to weigh the challenges and opportunities of the technology, the summit was positioned as a catalyst for progress and a demonstration of the value of international cooperation in shaping AI’s future.
Expectations now point to further innovations and breakthroughs emerging from the collective work of the global AI community. The 2025 AI Action Summit has set a benchmark for cross-border collaboration and knowledge-sharing, and the coming installment in Delhi will show how that foundation is carried forward.
